You know you're close when you heading for the breakwater flags. If you're going to be in Santa Barbara, it would be a highlight of your day to take a stroll along the Harbor area, and maybe even walk along the Breakwater. The Breakwater is lined with various flags from Sister-Cities and Non-Profits, the waves sometimes splash up against the Breakwater and it's a fun place to take in the sights and catch some sea spray. If you follow the Breakwater walkway path all the way to the end, you can walk out onto the jetty and along the sand and get a closer view of Stearn's Wharf and sometimes there are Surfers catching a few waves where the Breakwater wall meets the surf. You can also Fish from certain areas, but you'll want to be sure that you have the proper License (you can buy daily or yearly California Fishing Licenses from Sea Landing, near the Boat Launch area of the Harbor).
