More Than a Building
La Casa de la Raza became one of Santa Barbara’s important gathering places for cultural programs, youth activities, community organizing, theater, live music, dances, weddings, quinceañeras, fundraisers, memorials, and family celebrations.
During the 1970s and 1980s, its stage also became part of Southern California’s punk, hardcore, and alternative-music circuit, while the building continued serving generations of Santa Barbara families and community organizations.

A Santa Barbara Historic Landmark
The property was designated a City of Santa Barbara Landmark in 2020, recognizing both the architectural significance of the building and its long association with Santa Barbara’s Latino and Chicano community.
