For more than four decades, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) has transformed downtown Santa Barbara into one of the world’s premier destinations for filmmakers, movie enthusiasts, and Hollywood’s biggest stars. Scheduled for February 3–13, 2027, the 42nd annual festival will once again bring together acclaimed directors, award-winning actors, emerging filmmakers, and thousands of film lovers for eleven days celebrating the art of cinema.
Recognized as one of the most influential stops on the international awards-season circuit, SBIFF offers visitors the rare opportunity to experience world premieres, Academy Award contenders, independent features, documentaries, animated films, and compelling international cinema—all before many titles reach general theatrical release. The festival has earned an international reputation for championing both established artists and exciting new voices from around the globe.
Celebrity Tributes & Awards
One of SBIFF’s defining traditions is its prestigious celebrity tribute series. Throughout the festival, celebrated actors, directors, writers, and filmmakers are honored in front of live audiences with career achievement awards, followed by in-depth conversations that provide unique insight into their creative process.
